Turkish Visitors, May, 2013

Hungarian gallerists and collectors with the Turkish visitors

The Budapest Contemporary program welcomed Turkish art experts: a journalist, an art consultant and collectors.

Invited by the Hungarian Contemporary Art Galleries Association, five Turkish guests arrived in Budapest from Istanbul at the beginning of May, 2013. Jasmine Taranto, an independent art consultant, who helped us compile the list of art experts to invite, also accompanied the group. In addition to the art collectors Ari Mesulam, Emre Dokmeci and Mrs. Gulin, journalist Mina Ercel of the Turkish edition of the International Herald Tribune also visited several Hungarian galleries. The following ten contemporary art galleries participated in the program – acb, Erika Deák, Faur Zsófi, INDA, Knoll, Ani Molnár, Missionart, Várfok, Viltin and Vintage. The visitors had a chance to see the current exhibitions at these locales as well as familiarize themselves with each gallery’s profile and the artists represented by them. During their three-day long stay the Turkish guests also had the opportunity to visit the Ludwig Museum – Museum of Contemporary Art and met with Hungarian art collectors and gallery directors in the course of a dinner. During their stay they also purchased works of art from one of the contemporary art galleries. In an article which appeared in the Turkish edition of the International Herald Tribune, Mina Ercel gave a detailed account of her positive observations of the Budapest Contemporary program.
