Art Market Budapest 2012

Art Market Budapest 2012

Budapest becomes the centre of art in Central and Eastern Europe this year again. The Art Market Budapest will be held through 8-11 November, 2012 for the second time, defining itself as a Central European event by now with the participation of many foreign galleries.

The primary aim of Art Market Budapest is the furtherance of recognition and appreciation of the art of this region, and the raising of internal and external awareness about the selection of fine art to be found here.

Besides the participation of the majority of our gallery members (acb, Erika Deák, Dovin, Godot, INDA, Kisterem, KOGART, MissionArt, MONO, NextArt, Várfok, VILTIN, Vintage), our Association became the professional collaborating partner of the contemporary art fair this year.

  • Erika Deák, one of the Association’s vice-presidents had been elected to be the member of the professional committee that also acts as the Advisory Board.
  • Our Association organized one of the panel discussions of the ‘Inside Art’ professional program of the fair, scheduled on 8 November, at 3 p.m. on the ‘Collecting practices of Eastern European exhibition institutions’.

Speakers:
Natasa IVANCEVIC, deputy director of Museum of Contemporary Art, Zagreb
Dorota MONKIEWICZ, director of Wroclaw Contemporary Museum
Barnabás BENCSIK, director of Ludwig Museum – Museum of Contemporary Art, Budapest
Moderator: Zsolt PETRÁNYI, art historian, director of the Department of Contemporary Art of the Hungarian National Gallery

The panel discussion with the three museum experts explores the institutional collecting in Poland and Croatia following the change of regime and then the global economic crisis, compared with the Hungarian situation. The profile of both the Wroczlaw and the Zagreb museums will be introduced, and the challenges in the present artistic and museological environment are also to reveal.

The event is part of the Budapest Contemporary program organized by the Hungarian Contemporary Art Galleries Association with the sponsorship of the Ministry of Human Resources.

Looking forward to meeting you there! Let us all support the Hungarian contemporary art!
